ACR122 developed to support technology of contactless smart card ( RFID) , working on frequency 13.56MHz contactless smart card. Supporting not only Mifare® memory cards, ISO-14443 type A and B cards but also NFC and FeliCa contactless technologies.
Maximizing the speed of up to 212 Kbps for NFC Tag access and full USB speed of up to 12 Mbps, ACR122 can read and write faster and more efficiently. The operating distance of ACR122 is up to 5 cm, depending on the type of contactless tag in use. Operating distance can be extended on request by adding an RF boaster, so the ACR122 is suitable for logistics and supply chain management.
By compliance with CCID, the ACR122 NFC reader is ideal for both secure personal identity verification and online micro-payment transactions.
Felica has been successfully implemented in many countries, with example of in Asia use by Octopus in Hong Kong, EZ Link in Singapore and Pasmo in Japan. The implementation for these examples are for Automatic Fare Collection.
NFC is the most ideal choice technology for implementation of payment system easier, more cost officient, and more trustworthy. NFC Chip has been implemented to many big mobile phone vendors such as Nokia, Samsung, etc. Because NFC is surely will be a great choice for the public payment systems later in the future. Just for example using it for payment in Super Market, Busway ( Public Transport) , and others.
In order to increase the security level, the ACR122 can be optionally integrated with an ISO7816-3 SAM slot. ACR122 is even available in module form for easy integration into bigger machines, like POS terminals, physical access devices and vending machines.
